Los Angeles is a fusion of signature landmarks, thriving neighborhoods, and sunny beaches. There are just too many things to see and do that the planning of a trip here might become overwhelming. Hence, to help you make the most of your visit to Los Angeles, an itinerary of three days, covering all the must-sees and hidden gems this city has in store, has been put down.

DAY 1 – EXPLORE THE GLITZ & GLAMOUR OF HOLLYWOOD

Morning: Hollywood Boulevard & Walk of Fame
Begin your tour in Hollywood, the world’s entertainment capital. Start your day at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where you’ll witness over 2,600 brass stars placed in the honor of celebrities from the film, TV, and music industries. Don’t miss the TCL Chinese Theatre with its iconic celebrity handprints and footprints, and take a peek at the Dolby Theatre, which annually hosts the Academy Awards.

Midday: Griffith Observatory & Hollywood Sign
Get out to Griffith Park, home of the famous Griffith Observatory. You can drive the curving road or hike up to the observatory to see spectacular views of the city over the iconic Hollywood Sign. You might also want to go in to see the exhibits, although you’ll only have time for some of them, a view from the grounds is definitely enough.

Afternoon: Melrose Avenue & Sunset Boulevard
From there, head down to Melrose Avenue. Now that it has been branded as the fashionista street, it features eclectic boutiques, great street art, and quaint cafes to browse through or have lunch at one of its many offbeat eateries. Then, Sunset Boulevard, where you’ll be able to view the famous Sunset Strip and its legendary music venues and historic hotels along the strip.

Evening: Dinner and Drinks at West Hollywood
Spend the night of your first day in West Hollywood-the hub of nightlife and fine dining. Have dinner at one of the high-end restaurants along Santa Monica Boulevard; thereafter, bar-hop as you may wish. If you are interested in some history and music, you can attend some live performances at the Whisky a Go Go or The Viper Room.

DAY 2 – COAST & CULTURE

Morning: Santa Monica Pier & Beach
You can spend your second day relaxing in Santa Monica. Take a leisurely stroll along the legendary Santa Monica Pier, featuring Pacific Park amusement rides, an aquarium and plenty of places to grab a snack. Take a walk along the sandy beach or rent a bike to explore the scenic shoreline.

Midday: Venice Beach & Abbot Kinney Boulevard
Head south from Santa Monica towards Venice Beach and enjoy the lively boardwalk, zany street performers, and radical skate park. For a more subdued side of this famous neighborhood, take a gander at the Venice Canals. When you want to get some grub, Abbot Kinney Boulevard is lined with posh boutiques, gourmet food trucks, and artisan cafes that will leave you wanting more for a laid-back lunch.

Afternoon: Getty Center
Getty Center is an architectural wonder on a hilltop, Brentwood. You’ll here find a world-class collection of art – paintings of old Europe, to modern sculptures. Spend a little time amidst the beautiful gardens and see the views of the city.

Evening: Sunset at Malibu
End your day at the coast in Malibu. Cruise down Pacific Coast Highway and stop at one of the lovely beaches of Malibu, such as El Matador or Zuma Beach. Watch the spectacular sunset over the ocean and then dine in a beachfront restaurant leisurely.

DAY 3 – DOWNTOWN LA & CULTURAL HIGHLIGHTS

Morning: Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) & La Brea Tar Pits
Spend your last day exploring the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the largest art museum in western United States. Be sure to stop by the iconic “Urban Light” sculpture and take a photo with it. A short walk can take you to the La Brea Tar Pits for great fossils and findings about a prehistoric Los Angeles.

Midday: The Broad Museum & Walt Disney Concert Hall
Next, head to Downtown LA and visit The Broad, a contemporary art museum with an impressive collection of modern masterpieces. After that, cross the street to the Walt Disney Concert Hall by Frank Gehry: an iconic architectural gem. Listen to the audio guide for free to learn more about this beautiful building.

Afternoon: Grand Central Market & Olvera Street
Lunch is a good time to visit Grand Central Market, the oldest food hall in L.A. that hosts many vendors and cuisines under its roof. Sample some local favorites or global flavors. After lunchtime, take a stroll down Olvera Street, the birthplace of Los Angeles and perhaps you can explore the vibrant Mexican marketplaces and cultural landmarks.

Evening: Little Tokyo & Arts District

If you are able to, end your day in the Arts District or Little Tokyo. The Arts District has all that creativity can offer, it’s full of art galleries, trendy cafes and whatnot. Or head to Little Tokyo for some authentic Japanese food and take a leisurely walk around the quaint shops and cultural centers.

TIPS FOR YOUR LA ADVENTURE

  1. Get an Early Start: Los Angeles is known for their traffic, so it is best to start early to use up each minute .
  2. Parking: Pay parking is available at most attractions, but it can be very limited. Use ride-shares or public transports at times when visiting places.
  3. Dress Comfortably: LA weather is bright with warm temperatures, so stay in layers and wear great shoes when walking.
